If you’re looking for a new IDE, check out the Eclipse project which is an open-source java-based IDE that supports plugins for a variety of features and languages including PHPEclipse. This is an extremely robust application, tho I haven’t had much time to play around with it yet.
I also found a program the other night called PHP Designer 2005 which is friggen awesome! It supports many languages including PHP, HTML, CSS, XML, Perl, JS, VB, Java, C# and SQL. A few of its features are: auto-complete, intellisense, class browser, project manager, snippet and template libraries, FTP manager with auto-uploading, HTML element and Formatting toolbars. Ohh, and it’s skinnable too (comes with 20 or so). It’s not perfect. Still has a lot of bugs to be worked out, but I’m fairly impressed.
If you’re looking for an IDE that supports the dotNet languages and SQL query editing, check out ASP.Net WebMatrix. It’s small, it’s robust, and it’s kickass.
And another cool editor for C# and VB.NET languages… #Develop (SharpDevelop). User comments give it 5 out of 5, and it appears to have all the necessary features for creating code, but without having a lot of bloat.

I’ve been reviewing some free WYSIWYG editors for webpages because I needed a webpage editing program that I could use to train my clients. After reviewing about 5 other programs, I found one called Trellian WebPage which rocks more than all the other free ones. The interface is very friendly and intuitive. It’s simple, yet supports all the features you would expect from more advanced editors too.
